Despite a tough loss for Charnwood Rutland Warriors against local rivals TFC this weekend the team put in an outstanding performance and still sit in a strong position on the Premier 3 National League Table, losing out by just four goals, 42-38.
Warriors entered the game expecting it to be a tough one after suffering a narrow loss in the first round when they played TFC at home and missing some of their star players.
However, they did not let this phase them and came out hard in the first quarter winning 14-11. Entering the second quarter Warriors started strong, maintaining their lead, however TFC soon came fighting back into the game. After a strong second quarter from TFC, Warriors were down 21-26 at half time.
Heading into the second half the Warriors came out strong and kept the gap close showing the teams’ resilience and determination. By the end of this quarter the score was 29-35 to TFC, so both teams knew it was going to be a tough last quarter.
Despite a solid last quarter from the Warriors, TFC just managed to hold on and take the win, with the final score 42-38. Both East Midlands teams showed great tenacity and determination throughout the game and fought all the way until the end of the match.
With just one match remaining Warriors are looking to finish their season in National Prem strongly as they face Leyton at home on 24 March.
