Charnwood Rutland Warriors travelled to the Copper Box Arena last Sunday to face Leyton in their first National Premier League game of the season.
Warriors had some new faces within their line up with Lucy Alexandar and Brittany Coleman making their debuts for the club. The match was highly competitive from start to finish with Leyton taking the lead early on being the more composed team, whilst the Warriors needed to settle into some clinical play. With goal shooter Gallacher finding her rhythm by half time the scores were level 24-24.
However in the second half Leyton’s experience took hold and they shut down Warriors smooth play in attack forcing them to make errors whilst their shooters capitalised with impressive accuracy. Warriors made numerous changes to try and find the answers but it wasn’t to be and they were unable to get the win for the first outing. Leyton took the win 54-43.
